Hero: Toxic by DavidStrife Hero: Toxic by DavidStrife
Entry for The World Ends With You Contest.

CHARACTER DESIGN

Toxic, the graffiti artist. He can mentally manipulate the paint of his spray cans, creating sharp blades and scythes.
He's also able to use badges, which allow him to summon other sharp paint structures, like a scorpion tail.

I was designing it with the idea of create a villain. In The World Ends With You, the shinigamis adopt beast shapes when they spread their wings, so I though his shape could be a scorpion. But... the composition was a mess, with the claws, wings, and tail.

Finally, I rejected the idea of drawing him as a villain. Look his face... this guy can't be so bad! However, I conserved the scorpion idea, which was appropriate with the composition.

DRAWING STYLE

Yeah, maybe you're thinking that I can do it better, or I should do it better. With realistic shading and such things, like my previous entry. But... I decided to use this style because it suits better to the game concept. Maybe it's a risky decision, but hey... nothing ventured, nothing gained.

RANDOM FACTS

- He is a recycled own character who was in disuse. Anyways, I changed his design to make him more complex. I removed his previous shirt logo (The Power of Love), which made no sense in this context, and I replaced it with the symbol of the toxic wastes. Exactly, cheap symbolism.
- Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and blacK are the colors you can see from the spray cans. Is not very ingenious, but better than put random colors or do it monochrome.
- The pose is weird, but I'm at least satisfied with the composition. And I've seen weirder poses in photographs, haha!
- The extension of the deadline kicked my face. Because it made me draw the previous entry in a hurry. But now I had more time, this entry is more elaborated... at least conceptually.

De todos modos, no creo que mis diseños sean mejores que los que te ofrezca un tatuador XD

even thought you didn't do all the shading you usually do, i love this! i think it's very bold and the perspective makes this amazing!
